    The cover of this 9 January 1947 edition of 'The Australasian Post' features an image of a woman dressed in a two piece swimsuit standing on headland with a wooden bellyboard. The swimsuit-clad covergirl was a tradmark of the magazine throughout the 20th century.
    SignificanceAs well as documenting beach fashions from the late 1940s, the magazine is an important record of the developing image of Australian identity through beach imagery.
    HistoryIn 1864, the weekly newspaper 'The Australasian Post' was launched to Australian and New Zealand audiences. The articles provided a mix of scandal, sensationalism, human interest stories, fashion, politics, culture and entertainment. The last edition of the 'Aussie Post' was published on February 2, 2002.
