This photograph of BRITANNIA, captured on the right with a red ensign on its sails, with its competitors. The vessels are preparing for the start of a race on calm water.
History18ft. skiff racing was an entertaining sport for spectators. Its origins are attributed to Mark Foy and a group of businessmen who founded the Sydney Flying Yacht Squadron, reportedly established on 19 October 1891.

BRITANNIA and its skipper Georgie Robinson were prominent figures in 18ft. skiff racing between the two world wars.
