This photograph captured two sailing skiffs racing side by side on Sydney Harbour. The crashing waves have turned the water which surrounds the vessels to a white colour.
History18ft. skiff racing was an entertaining sport for spectators. Its origins are attributed to Mark Foy and a group of businessmen who founded the Sydney Flying Yacht Squadron, reportedly established on 19 October 1891.

BRITANNIA and its skipper Georgie Robinson were prominent figures in 18ft. skiff racing between the two world wars.
