    Description
    This photograph captures BRITANNIA sailing close to shore in a weekly race on Sydney Harbour. The skiff is seen tilting to the right, the eight crew members are on the left side of the vessel are facing forward away from the photographer.
    History18ft. skiff racing was an entertaining sport for spectators. Its origins are attributed to Mark Foy and a group of businessmen who founded the Sydney Flying Yacht Squadron, reportedly established on 19 October 1891.

    BRITANNIA and its skipper Georgie Robinson were prominent figures in 18ft. skiff racing between the two world wars.
