This photograph of BRITANNIA, easily identified with the red ensign design, sailing close to shore. Waves are breaking at the front of the 18 ft. skiff making the water white in color.
History18ft. skiff racing was an entertaining sport for spectators. Its origins are attributed to Mark Foy and a group of businessmen who founded the Sydney Flying Yacht Squadron, reportedly established on 19 October 1891.

BRITANNIA and its skipper Georgie Robinson were prominent figures in 18ft. skiff racing between the two world wars.
