    Description
This candy striped pink and white cotton sunsuit was made by the Aram Silknit Group in the 1950s. Zippered from navel to neck it features a peter pan collar and a white ribbon that ties at the neck. The loose fitting style is sleeveless with bloomer pants with elasticised legs and a waist.

SignificanceThis sunsuit is representative of beach leisure wear in Australia in the 1950s.
HistoryInstead of sitting on the beach in a wet swimsuit, women changed into sunsuits and playsuits, which were short sleeveless all-in-ones often made from cotton or rayon. The suits were worn for sunbathing and other activities that took place around the pool or on the beach.
