    Description
This royal blue sunsuit is trimmed with a thick band of blue and white striped cotton. Sleeveless, it features a scooped neckline and five white buttons down the front. The loose fitting 1950s style incorporates culottes and a blouson top with an elasticised waist.

SignificanceThis sunsuit is representative of beach leisure wear in Australia in the 1950s.
HistoryInstead of sitting on the beach in a wet swimsuit, women changed into sunsuits and playsuits, which were short sleeveless all-in-ones often made from cotton or rayon. The suits were worn for sunbathing and other activities that took place around the pool or on the beach.
