    Description
This blue and white, polka dotted, cotton sunsuit features a square boat neck highlighted by dark blue bias binding. The 1950s loose fitting style is buttoned and sleeveless with bloomer-style pants with elasticised legs and waist.
SignificanceThis sunsuit is representative of beach leisure wear in Australia in the 1940s and 1950s.
HistoryInstead of sitting on the beach in a wet swimsuit, women changed into sunsuits and playsuits, which were short all-in-ones often made from cotton or rayon. The suits were worn for sunbathing and other activities that took place around the pool or on the beach.
