    Description
This dark blue one piece swimsuit was made by Sea Breeze. A feminine shape has been created with rouching, wire stays, a sweetheart neckline and a padded bust. The Terylene swimsuit is fully lined and has a half skirt for modesty, a shirred back with a metal zip and adjustable shoulder straps. White piping and a bow have been used to embellish the bodice.
SignificanceThis swimsuit is representative of Australian beachwear fashions and textile technologies in the 1950s.
HistoryFrom the late 1940s cotton swimsuits and sunsuits were often shaped and textured with shirring, smocking and contrasting panels to create a curvaceous and ultra-feminine silhouette emphasising the bust, waistline and hips.
