    The painting depicts swan egg collecting on the Murray River between Cobdogla and Katarapto where river is surrounded by swamp. While one person cooks, another paddles out to the nests of the black swans. The inscription at the top of the painting by the artist's daughter reads 'Collecting swan egg's in the swamp's to take home for eating. Some of the egg's we boiled up befor going home for eating. The rest of the egg's we would take home'.
    SignificanceIan Abdulla uses art to tell his personal history and a history of his people, the stories of their lives on the Murray River, South Australia.
