This 1:12 scale radio controlled model of the VIVIENNE T shows a typical Tasmanian two crew lobster fishing boat of an English design from the 1940s.
SignificanceThis model is an excellent example of typical Tasmanian crayfishing vessels from the 1940s.
HistoryVessels like this were designed to be able to be used at sea for up to 2 to 3 weeks. Crayfish caught were stored in a wet well and kept alive for delivery to the buyer. With only a crew of two, VIVIENNE T could carry up to 25 pots. The vessels were registered depending on the number of cray pots they could carry.

The model features 25 miniature cray pots, buckets, bins, brooms, buoys, a row boat, TV aerial and several fish held in the wet well. The model is radio-controlled and was made from plans drawn by David Wilson from the original boat.
