HistoryDiving support vessels are ships that are designed to provide a base in the ocean for diving projects. Dive support vessels first began to emerge in the 1960s with the development of commercial oil platforms at sea, as oil platforms required divers to conduct work on them. The floating base provides a stable site for professional divers to conduct their work from. Since 1982 Conautic Maritime has supplied trained crew to maritime, offshore oil and fishing industries.
