    • Undated postcard entitled “Greetings from Hamburg” Handwritten on front: Hamburg pier (top right), St Pauli, Menke (centre left), St Pauli (centre right) Text: Dear Oscar, All things considered, it is just like in the old days. (The “Rhein terraces” have been destroyed by bombs);. Café Menke is still there, too, a touch renovated, modernised. You still remember the piers, not much has changed there. The photo in the lower centre is “Café Keese” . “ladies are asking gentlemen to dance there”. Well, that’s St Pauli for you. The fish market is also still there, just like in the old days. Rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs, fish, sausages, eels, etc. etc. The “Lighthouse”, the restaurant is still there like before. The girls of St. Pauli are also still there, but they are not likely to be the same ones, but their successors. Regards, Hans.
