    Translation
    • German Consulate for the Dutch Indies Batavia 4 World. 4 December 1937 Dear Mr. Speck, I learnt from reading the newspapers that you had to return to Surabaya in order to have your ear treated. Enclosed is the copy of a letter that I had already sent to your address on Thursday Island. As you can see, we informed the Government of the Dutch Indies about this incident on the island of Lakor. It appears that the investigation has not yet been completed, i.e. we have not as yet received a reply from the local government. I hope you will soon recover fully in Surabaya and I would like to wish you well for your ongoing journey. You will probably receive further information regarding this matter by way of the German Consulate General in Sydney. German salutation and Heil Hitler By order Signature To Mr. Oskar Speck, C/o German Consulate Surabava
