    Letter from Oskar Speck to the German Consulate General, Batavia, typed in German and dated 24 December 1938. The letter is to advise the consulate about a defamatory article printed in a Dutch East Indies newspaper, and the action he has taken to clear his name. Requesting action from the consulate.
    • Oskar Speck Manokwari Currently: Manokwari 24 December 1938 To: German Consulate General Batavia I hereby wish to inform the Consulate General about the measures I have taken in response to the defamatory article concerning myself. There is no further need to go into what actually occurred as you will Page 14 of 32glean all that information from the enclosed copy of my letter to the Resident Ambassador to the Moluccas. I also wrote to the following institutions and people in an attempt to clarify this matter: The Reichsminister [Imperial Minister] for Public Information and Propaganda, the Resident Ambassador of Timor, whom I know personally, the captain of the K.P.M. ship " Real"*, Dr. Engelen, the doctor who treated me in the C.B.Z. in Surabaya, the principal editor of the "Java Booden"** , and the editor-in-chief of the "Lokomotiev". Copies of my letters are at the Consulate General's disposal if required. I most politely request the Consulate General to take the obvious and necessary steps. Should the Consulate General have already arranged for this matter to be passed on to an authority in Germany, I respectfully request that the contents of my letter, the original or a copy, be forwarded to that same authority.
