    Translation
    • Surabaya 18 January 1939 To the German Consulate-General Batavia Dear Sir, Enclosed I politely send you a letter sent to me by Mr Oscar Speck, in which he asked me to forward the letter on to you. Further there are two more letters for inspection, dated 31/08/38 and 1/11/38. Since I have not been able to receive money from the Scherl Verlag [publishing house], I politely request to be informed on whether the Consulate may have some information on this and if it is possible for the Consulate to pay this out. If this is not so, I politely request to be informed of which bank institution I should turn to for information. I would like to see this information before the 22"d of this month, with the announcement on whether the money will be sent to Mr Oscar Speck. Thanking you in advance, I sign Yours Faithfully, [No signature]
