Letter to Oskar Speck from F Dimpker typed in German with writing one side only. Dated 12 May 1938, the letter talks about delivery of a new boat to Saumlaki and about the customs excise, hopes his ear and health has recovered.
    • F. Dimpker Surabaya, 12 May 1938 Dear Speck, The folding boat P.F.W. 81, 1 box, 69 kg, around 287 m3 will be loaded on to the “Van Lansberge” on 14th of this month to go to Makassar and from there on to Saumlaki. I managed to arrange with K.P.M. for it to be sent as personal luggage, instead of them invoicingcharging for it as freight. With customs we’ve arranged with customs for that the box getsto be taken to Saumlaki free of charge on a so-called “overscheep-loslijst” [Dutch]. It is up to you to arrange with the customs officials at Saumlaki for the boat to be handed over to you free of charge. Attached is a letter from Schenker. It arrived here with the bill of lading, which we were able to get from the post office, thanks to the power of attorney you sent per air mail from KoepangKupang. Hopefully you’ve been able to work on your article for Scherl and hopefully your ear is better and you are feeling well in generaloverall. Good luck for the rest of your journey and hopefully we’ll see you again in Germany. ( I’ll be in Germany on holidays from March until August 1939.) Best regards Yours [Signature]
