They will go to gaol for a few years and lead a better life there than they ever could ever afford to in their normal livesfe. No 38. Typical landscape of Dutch Timor. A caravan is taking oranges to the bazaar of Koepeng bazaar. Kissar: No 17. One of the natives, from the island of Lakor, whothat attacked me. (He’s supposed to be the one who damaged my ear, but I doubt he is the one. He got 6 years in gaol.) His name is “Leonardo” No 21. Four of the sentenced natives. They are doing their time in Kissar, are fed well and do not have to do very muchstrain themselves. The photo shows a passenger disembarking from a Dutch steamship that visits Kissar once a month. No 13. The natives who had attacked me, standing on the Kissar Bbeach of Kissar, awaiting the arrival of the steamship in order to unload government freight. (Only the natives dressed in prison clothes) No 18. Women on Wonrelithe Bbeach of Wonreli (Kissar) Barbar: No 3. 4. On the beach of Tepa Beach, Barbar Island. Small fishing boats with outriggers. The boats are mainly used to cast the fishing lines. No 6. Two women on Tepathe Bbeach of Tepa dressed in normal clothing. No 7. A Kaja-Kaja skcull from New Guinea that has found its way to the island of Barbar. No 8. Tepa Church of Tepa (Barbar Island). Most of the natives are dressed in European clothing. You can’t be too sure, – or: Bbetter safe than sorry. A human skcull hangings from a tree only 20m away from the church. Superstition is still very strong, even though all natives on Barbar are Christians.
