    Translation
    • Pionier Faltbootwerft [Pionier Shipyard for Collapsible Boats] Via Airmail Mr. Oskar Speck C/o German Consulate Surabaya/Java 27.1.1938 Dear Mr. Speck, We were very relieved today to receive your letter of 16 January today. As we hadn’t heard from you for a long time we were worried about your well-being. We are prepared to send you another boat type “R” type boat, including a spray guard, paddles and pedal steering, (all of the highestin best quality),, and have contacted the freight forwarding company haulage contractor Schenker & Co. in order to determineh the quickest way for you to take possession of the boat. In spite of your misfortune on the island of Lakor you were apparently quite lucky to be able to escape. We hope that your state of health will improve backreturn to normal again. We wish you the best for the final legap of your long journey and hope you will will send us another lengthy report soon. The boat we are sending to you will again be free of charge. However, we would like to reserve thea right of participation infor the boat once you have happily safely completed your journey, asfor we will have to utiliseemploy your voyage as best we can for advertising purposes, and in that context it might be appropriate to exhibit the boat you used at various locations here and there. We are convinced that we will come to a mutually satisfactory agreement in this regard once you have returned. The main thing at the moment is for you to reach your destination of Australia all in one piece and well. German salutations Signature
