    • [Translated – page 1 only, presumably a dud product, not known any more] Pionier Post [Retailer Newsletter] 4/50 Bad Toelz April, 1950 Dear Business Associates, First of all we would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter. We hope that the recently begun water sport season will turn out to be a good one, and that it will give us all a decent push with regard to expanding our businesses. 1. Now to something new and important: The PIONIER “Transparent Single-Seater” Those who live by a lake or next to a river, and who are able to store their boat in a boat shed will not necessarily require a boat to be collapsible. Furthermore, not everyone who likes to go kayaking has the money to buy a high-quality collapsible boat made by PIONIER. That is the reason why people have kept asking for a cheaper boat. We rejected the idea to produce a cheap PIONIER collapsible boat, because we are convinced that a noticeable price reduction can only be achieved at the cost of decreased quality. However, we want the name PIONIER to continue to guarantee something special. In order to give the less affluent consumer the opportunity to be introduced to water sports, and also with the intention to satisfy your demand for a less expensive boat, we have decided to commence production of the PIONIER “Transparent Boats”. The PIONIER “Transparent Single-Seater” will initially be produced in series. We expect to be able to deliver the first boats of this new model early this May. Promotional material should also be available by then. The Transparent Single-Seater is not a collapsible boat. It consists of a very light-weight and shapely skeleton, which is covered by an elastic skin, which is transparent, tear-resistant and as smooth as glass. The keel, gunwale, as well as stem and stern-post are protected by exterior wooden battens. The PIONIER Transparent Single-Seater is 3.85m in length and 0.70m wide with 7 transverse couples. It shares the shape of the well-known PIONIER Single-Seater 450S. A cause for surprise is its light weight of only 15kg. The per unit sale price of the single-seater will probably lie around DM 225. We will determine the exact price once production of the first series has been completed. You will receive the same discount that you have been receiving for all other PIONIER products.
