Dated 13 December 1950, the letter asks Oskar to send a short summary of dates and events of his journey. A list of suggested points are included.     • [Letter to Oskar Speck from “:Pionier Faltbootwerft” at Bad Toelz, , dated 13 December 1950] Dear Mr. Speck, Thank you for your letter dated 5th December which arrived today. We have not had a visit from Mr. Oertel to date. Thanks to your note we shall be extremely cautious and are very glad that you gave us that information. We don’t think it wise to construct a transparent boat since the boat hasn't metdidn’t meet with a lot of enthusiasm here and we’ll probably give up the construction of it altogether. AsSince we have received a lot of inquiries about your journey in recent months, , especially by people who are planning a similar trip, , we ask you to send us a short summary of the dates and events during your journey, , since the majority of our correspondence with you has been lost as a result of the due to the effects of the war. The following questions might provide a starting point: Departure from Ulm Arrival at the mouth of the Danube Duration of the overland crossing to the Euphrates The approximate duration of your various stops The day trips in the middle Water supply The points in time when you used a new boat Short report about accommodation, , tents, , etc. The longest distances to be covered Behaviour of the natives, etc. It could all be in the form of brief notes.
