    This archive series consists of ephemera collected by Miss Elsie Jackson during her return voyage from London to Sydney via America and Canada on EMPRESS OF BRITAIN in 1931. It includes several items relating to the Canadian Pacific Line, such as a baggage tag, booklet, abstract log tag, information sheet for passengers, embarkation notice leaflet, a lettergram, an issue of the 'Canadian Pacific Gazette' and an entertainment program. Also included are an immigration office identification card, passenger leaflets and a postcard of the EMPRESS OF BRITAIN by Canadian Airways Ltd.
    HistoryMrs Elsie Ashdown (nee Jackson) (1888-1975) undertook two cruises from Sydney to London over the course of 25 years.

    During her first voyage from Sydney to London in 1931, Elsie travelled third class on the Orient liner ORONTES via Cairo and the Suez Canal. After a week-long English tour, Elsie took an overland trip through Europe, followed by a second cruise on ORONTES to Norway and the northern capitals. Elsie returned to Sydney via Canada and the Americas.

    In 1956, travelling under her married name, Elsie undertook a second voyage on the Orient line to London, South Africa, South America and around the coast of Australia to Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne, Tasmania and back to Sydney.
