    This collection of eight documents relate to the maritime career of Captain Robert Menzies. They consist of one report of a summons case no. 478, Robert Menzies versus Arthur W Reeve; one report regarding the CARADALE dispute sent by Captain Menzies; one personal letter; one letter sent by Menzies to the Marine Superintendent, James Patrick and Company Proprietary Limited; three newspaper clippings relating to the charging of seaman over their refusal to take a ship to sea and one newspaper clipping regarding the Merchant Navy leading the Anzac Day march. The documents span the period 1943 – 1980.
    HistoryThe CARADALE incident relates to the charging of eight seamen with having ‘willfully disobeyed the lawful command of Captain Robert Menzies’ while at the port of Newcastle from Saturday 24 February 1945 to Thursday 1 March 1945.
