    Description
A black and white photograph of two row boats on Lake George, New South Wales. Figures can be seen on the boats and the inscription written on the back reads "P. Donoghoe's boats floating on Lake George, Bungendore".
SignificanceThis image is a part of the Captain Robert McKilliam collection. Captain McKilliam worked for the Aberdeen White Star Line for 32 years and sailed aboard such famous clipper ships as SALAMIS and THERMOPYLAE. He moved to Sydney in 1913 where he served as Assistant Wharf Master on Darling Island.
HistoryThe name 'P.Donoghoe' of Bungendore, likely refers to local business owner Patrick Donoghoe. He ran a business in Bungendore, P.Donoghoe & Sons, which specialised in being' general carriers and cordial manufacturers' in addition to supplying hardwood and other building timber.
Donoghoe would later settle in Moruya but was later farewelled and buried in his home town of Bungendore.

"The death is reported at Moruya on 28th April of Mr, Patrick Donoghoe, an old and highly-respected resident of Bungendore. He was one of the district's identities, and enjoyed the esteem of a large circle, of friends who will all deplore the passing of the 'genial old man. He was particularly well known about Captain's Flat, and also at Braidwood.
His widow, Mrs. Ann Donoghoe, and a family of six survive, viz., Ethel, Vivian, Bertram, Leonard, Thomas and Alma, to whom we extend our deepest sympathy. The large attendance at the funeral at Bungendore yesterday and the wealth of floral tributes testified to the respect in which the deceased was held by all sections of the community."
    [Braidwood Dispatch, 1 May 1942].
