Oliver Godfrey

Australian, 1863 - 1933

Oliver Godfrey was born in London and migrated to Australia where he worked as a photographer. He worked with marine artists including G F Gregory Jnr and sold photographic reproductions of ship portraits. He was active in Newcastle from about 1890 until 1923 when his studio disappeared from directory listings. Godfrey was one of Newcastle's well known and established photographers. He moved to Sydney some time in the late 1920s and passed away in Chatswood on 16 June 1933.
